Welcome to KANDIMA Theatre

Created in 2017 (receipt N°: N00000205801/27 June 2017) by actress, author and director Odile SANKARA, one of the pioneers of professional theater in Burkina Faso, KANDIMA is a theater company focused on training, creating and presenting shows. The power of the spoken word in its beauty, meaning, usefulness and virtues, a sacred symbol of awakening consciousness from which the name KANDIMA (in Dioula) derives, is the fundamental foundation on which all the company's activities are based. Between training, creation and performance, the KANDIMA company has a wide range of collaborations, notably in Africa, Europe and America. These include Les Récré TRALES, Le Carrefour International de Théâtre de Ouagadougou CITO, Le Centre de développement Chorégraphique CDC, L'Atelier Théâtre Burkinabè ATB etc. (in Burkina Faso), Le Festival des Écoles en Limoges et les Francophonies, La MC 93, La comédie de REIMS etc. (in France), Africologne (in Germany), to name but a few. Through its Nomade theater school, the Company has trained and continues to train numerous playwrights and actors throughout Africa and the rest of the world.
